In The Beginning

I think my shabby chic cheval mirror for my bride just arrived - I'll be back later,
Anne

It is my mirror indeed! It's just perfect in size and "look" for this bride's room. I hope it's complete now -- this chick has only lived with me for six weeks, and she's already got more stuff than I have! LOL

eBay may have some problems, but it's a godsend to me, although I waste time and money. But there's no place else on earth where I could have found the doll, armoire, bed and bedding, and mirror, all less than $100 including shipping, and all delivered to my door. Now I'm going to get inoculated against the Dreaded BW/Schoenhut virus before I go under.

Of course, now my bride needs a bridesmaid, and a flower girl...not getting a groom, because he's waiting at the church.

Oh, dear, I seem to be watching an Elise bridesmaid...

Posted by ann-a44   (75 ) on Aug-03-07 at 09:52:26 PDT
Ila, if you're still here, the Elise bride has her original gown, undies including seamed stockings -- so cute, and reminiscent of my mom in the 40s -- and her bouquet, veil, white pumps, garter, etc. Very good shape, just a little wrinkling of the veil. Her hair is still in its original style, including the hair net. The Elise I'm watching is also in pink original gown, adorable picture hat, pink satin slippers and bouquet. She doesn't have a box, but that doesn't matter to me. I've watched several that went over my set limit, but I have learned that if I just keep watching and be patient, I can usually find one at my price.

Here's part of the scene. The bed is AG Samantha that I got for $23, including shipping and the original bedding. It has a missing brass curlicue at one end -- guess that's why it wasn't in the $90 - $150 range of the others I was looking at. There's a green and cream "shabby chic" armoire behind the bride; got it for $2.34, plus $11 shipping lol. The suitcase on the bed I already had. I was searching the listings for a bag when I remembered this one stuck in a closet. I don't sew, but jeanb is making her some clothes. I know of a lavendar bra and panty set -- perfect, since the bag is lined with lavendar. This picture is from before the mirror arrived. I now have no more room on this desk where it's set up, so I have to find a larger venue!

jeanb, I don't have any patterns. Do you sew for boy dolls? I have one that might make a cute groom, but he needs a tux. Or just a black suit with white shirt. He's got on hiking boots and cargo shorts right now. Got him at Target a couple of years ago.

Ann...Your bride will be robbing the cradle. Jack is just to young for Elise. He's just not her type. Too immature!jb

jeanb, thanks for the warning about Jack! LOL He'd probably be off hunting when she wanted to sit in front of the fire and cuddle and watch a movie!! I still think I'll just have the groom wait at the church.

jeanb's handiwork on my pretty Elise. I didn't know this girl was finished with college and teaching school until I saw her in this outfit!

Anne how's your box doing LOL debg

Posted by ann-a44   (84 ) on Dec-20-07 at 16:51:54 PST
Debg, I hadn't even thought about that box in hours, and then you had to mention it! It's sitting behind my hubby's chair in his office. DD opened the box far enough to see if it was wrapped inside the outer box, and even she wouldn't let me have a peek. I can't WAIT!!!

Wedding plans -- I'm working on the storyboard now. We will have a "slide show" of the happy couple in childhood, etc. Standard photos, with maybe some surprises. My 20" (approx) MA Scarlett O'Hara is threatening to have a hissy fit if she can't be in the wedding -- and nobody can throw a hissy like Miss Scarlett! Fiddle-dee-dee!

I'm having a doll wedding for my MA bride doll I bought last summer. It was just a bride doll until I got my Christmas gift from Debg.

A groom doll, complete with flowers and a red heart that says, "Marry me, please."

Ann,
That boy looks awfully young to be getting married!

Well, so does she. But what can I do? They are IN LOVE...

We think they may have a honeymoon baby. Debg is gonna make three PG tummies in graduated sizes for that story. Yikes!

He takes after his mother, lol. those Grays are just forever young. lol lisa

Well, I had first suggested DD's Jack doll from Target, but jeanb said Jack is not mature enough for Elise.

Anne you did a great job on the Wedding . debg

Posted by ann-a44   (87 ) on Feb-16-08 at 18:15:08 PST
Thanks, debg, I had to do right by your handsome little boy and my gorgeous little girl.

So tell me the truth -- none of this "under the cabbage leaf" business -- where did Todd really come from? I've never seen a doll remotely like him. He has the best face.

Posted by debbiegray6   (405 ) on Feb-16-08 at 18:17:13 PST
Anne where else Ebay. LOL debg

Posted by ann-a44   (87 ) on Feb-16-08 at 18:20:26 PST
I've told so many people that all I had was a bride doll and a room that kept getting filled up with her stuff. I would not have dreamed of doing a wedding, until the moment I laid eyes on Todd!

Posted by ann-a44   (87 ) on Feb-17-08 at 13:58:24 PST
Oh, Debg's to blame for the whole wedding. I never imagined one until Todd arrived all wrapped up for Christmas, carrying the red felt "Marry Me, Please?" heart and a bunch of white roses. I laughed so hard, called debg immediately, and my family finally had to make me get off the phone so we could finish opening gifts!
