Bunker Banner

That Biker Dirty John, has passed away.

I still remember that damp, raw, November Day.

He was a Marine Combat Veteran in Vietnam .

Got wounded in the leg, back and in the arm.

I met him at a stay for a few at the VAMC.

I really enjoyed his tales and his company.

DJ was a biker , used to love his machine,

but most of all he was proud to have been a U.S. Marine.

We laughed and talked a lot and got to be friends.

DJ wanted his Bike buried with him at his lifes end.

Well not long after we got out of that hospital ward.

I heard Ol' Dirty John was found laying dead on the floor.

DJ could never forget his two tours he served in the war

Dreams and thoughts, through DJ's mind ripped, and tore.

At his funeral many bikers came from near and all around.

DJ was buried with his Harley in that cold, wet ground.

That "Decorated" Marine Biker , I will never forget.

Dirty John the Biker is remembered by many.

And that is a sure bet.

Sgt. John Couglin U.S.M.C. died 11/5/87, and was

buried on the Marine Corp Birthday, 11/10/87.

"Bammo"

In 1979 "DJ" was the first person in the U.S. to be excused from criminal charges on the grounds that he suffered from PTSD from Combat in the "Nam". "DJ" was a leading edge to the recognition of PTSD for Combat Veterans at the VAMC. And in 1981 Combat Veterans could receive Service Connected Disabilities because of "DJ's" national recognition, that was in "Time Magazine", 2/1979. "DJ" was a pioneer for Veterans' rights and I am honored to have been "Dirty John's" friend. "DJ" was a proud member of the "RED EMERALDS MC" out of Boston. Click on the "Colors" below of this MC which my friend "DJ" belonged and check out their fine web site, thanks!
