Myself being at the tender age of single digits and seeing this "free" form of expression was mind boggling . After all, I had just seen the "Blackboard Jungle" with Bill Haley and the Comets singing "Rock Around The Clock", and now I was seeing the person who was singing Carl Perkins hit song, "Blue Suede Shoes"

I first saw him on "Hayride" I think, with my older sister. When we saw what was to become an "icon", we just looked at each other in amazement. After learning he was going to be on the Ed Sullivan show we waited impatiently only to be censored from the actions of this new and free spirited talent ... Now you have to remember, our generation was coming out of the "victorian age", and this kind of exposure was not know to white America and at first was condemned because of the rawness of his sensuality ... Sure we had the soul music, gospel, jazz, country ... but not anything compared to "Elvis",
("Elvis the Pelvis", society would call him)

It was said our generation was "doomed" from this type
of music and we were all "rebels", not so. We just wanted
to be at peace with ourselves and enjoy our world, and if
letting loose helped and no one was hurt,
then why not !!!

Not advertised very much is Elvis singing gospel.
If you get a chance to listen , do so as you
won't be disappointed ...
