Make Your Own Mask from Dingbats

I got creative again. But this time I ran the idea, by another good friend, Shellie, momcab, first. We both tweaked it a bit, and this is what we came up with.

You can take dingbats, and make your own mask stencils! It's really pretty easy too.

First, find a dingbat that you would like to use for a mask. Grab it's URL.

Now take a black jpg, and size it 400x400. You can make it smaller, if you want, but most masks are 400x400.

Go over to Image Magick, paste in the URL for the black jpg. Then click the ANNOTATE tab.

Enter in the URL of the dingbat you want to use. Leave white in the fill color box. Leave the other color boxes alone.
Here is where the experimenting comes in. It depends on what kind of dingbat you are going to use, as to what point size and density you use.

For example, to make the masks, that are on Shellie's page, Shellie used point size 475 or 450, and left the density alone.

BTW, if you have time, check out her other pages, please? She has a lot of good stuff there!

But to make my mask,

Cat Mask

I used point size 200, density 150.

So, as you can see, it's a matter of trying a number, and seeing what it looks like, and going from there.

Once you get the mask the way you want it, just output it as a jpg, and you are done!

One nice thing, many of these self-made masks don't weigh much at all. Most of them are under 10 kbs.

But there are tons of possibilites out there, so hope you have fun!
