THE JOSEPH DUMAS FAMILY

Taken around 1917 or so. I'm basing this date on my father, who looks about five years old in the picture.

Front row is Laura, Leonard (my dad), Joseph holding Lloyd, Grandmother Mary Recore Dumas, and Sarah.

Middle row is Bessie Gardner Dumas (my grandmother), Stella Mae (who is Mildred Stowe and Bernie Jock's mother), Aunt Margaret Shatraw, and Uncle Paul Shatraw.

Now for the three men in the back! The man wearing the white shirt and tie is George Shatraw.

Now, who would visit Joseph Dumas and his family along with the others? Well, Andrew Dumas (age 23-24) and Bill Dumas (age 19-20) were still at home at the time, and our guess is that Andrew is on the left, and Bill is in the middle (behind Mae).

This makes sense because he looks younger. And my wife the artist thinks that the guy in the middle looks more like Bill.

Andrew would soon enter World War I.

Bill would soon marry Edith Lawrence.
