NOTE
At the time Antoine, Fredrick, and Jean Babtiste married, the family was living in Fort Covington, Franklin Co. N.Y. having moved there about 1851, and their name had been changed to Batraw, But the name on the marriage certificates is Bertrand.
Desire Bertrand was now know as John Batraw. It was changed either by the immigration Dept, or by the census taker who did not speak French. This change first apeared on the 1860 Franklin Co. census..

I find the surname Chaloup also spelled Chaloux on different legal documents, I don’t know which one is correct or how they pronounced the name. I don’t speak French either.
