EASTERN DIAMONDBACK

RATTLESNAKE BITE SYMPTOMS

The Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake - This is the king of venomous snakes in North America.

This large, heavy bodied rattlesnake is one of the most impressive snakes in the world. With a large head that houses two huge venom glands to go with two large fangs, the Eastern diamondback is one of the most serious rattlesnake bites around.

The eastern is so impressive due to the fact that when it coils up to strike, it puffs up its already huge body, and looks as though it is twice its normal size. This snake is no bluffer, however, as it houses one of the most deadly bites in North America. The Eastern Diamondback is the king of snakes in America, and could compete with any snake in the world and with its beauty as well.

The Eastern Diamondback has hinged fangs that spring forward when the snake strikes. The snake then buries the fangs deep into the snake bite victim, and injects venom through the hollow fangs. The eastern diamondback has large fangs, and extremely large venom glands. This means that it can inject copious amounts of venom into a bite. This is one of the reasons the eastern diamondback rattlesnake is so dangerous.

Symptoms of an envenomated bite include: immediate pain, swelling and discoloration, weakness and giddiness, difficulty breathing, nausea and vomiting, hemorrhaging from the wound site, circulatory disturbance such as rapid, fluttery or thready pulse and a drop in blood pressure. Bites on face or neck may result in difficulty in swallowing, numbness of lips and tongue, excessive thirst and cold sweats.
