HARRYS DRIVE-IN RESTAURANT

RATTLESNAKE  FLORIDA

Harry's Drive-In Restaurant, on the N.W.corner of Westshore Blvd and Gandy Blvd, Tampa Fl. 1948

Where there is now in 2012 a Circle K Convenience Store

Sorry I could not improve the quality, It was taken from a food place mat from 1948, this place mat was saved all these years because Mrs Larcom of Port Tampa, who was a waitress then, had it autographed by the Country Music Star Eddie Arnold. when he ate there on 3/19/1948.

How about that?

Mr Ed Larcom told me when I visited his garage in July 2012, that this is where he met his future wife. He was a mechanic in the Gas station Garage and she was a waitress in the Restaurant, on the same block, almost across the street from George Ends Reptilarium, but in 1948 it was an Imperial gas station.

Ed also explained to me that you have to realize that Gandy Blvd looked completely different in the 30's up until the early 50's, it was a two lane road back then, and with the opening of the second span of Gandy Bridge, in 1956, the Blvd was expanded from two lanes to four, and some of the businesses had to be removed, the Imperial gas station with a bar in the back, Once George K Ends Rattlesnake Reptilarium the Post Office, and I suspect Harry's Drive-in Restaurant too.?
