Being new to the Richey City's, and the word Port, I thought where is the Port, the Gulf of Mexico is to shallow here, and I find it fascinating how this area of Florida got started and how fast it grew, doing research on how they got their names which differs some what from what's on the officialI gathered information and made three webpages .. one for Port Richie & one for New Port Richey & one that mentions Southgate Shopping Mall
Port Richey ..(POINT) is mentioned more than once .. The location I believe would be somewhere close to the Gulf on the North bank of the Pithlachascotee River, locals say and spell it Cootie or Cotee River
