How To Make A Blinking-Text Banner:
In order to make a "Blinky-Ban", you will need a Host Server besides WebTv's™ Page-Builder™ [like: Angelfire™, WTV-Zone™, Domania™, etc.]--
AND you will need a working knowledge of Image-Magick Studios™.
Try to picture in your mind just what you want to say on the banner, what colors to use, & how many frames you want to blink....[for this example, I will use 3 frames].
FIRST ~~ Go to your Host Server & create a sub-directory & name it anything, like: BlinkyBanners.....
SECOND ~~ To create a banner from scratch, you will need a blank "Tile" to start with, such as this BLACK tile.
This tile measures 75x75 pixels, & you will need to resize it -- transload this image to your Host Server, & put it anywhere for easy use. You can also change the color [black] to any color you want -- & you can store it in Page-Builder Scrapbook, if you want to.
OR ~~ if you have a banner blank picked out already, feel free to use it instead of a color tile.
NOTE: whichever you use, you will want to resize the tile or banner blank to a width of 470 to use it in your e-mail Sig [width of 560 for WebPages only]. The height can be any height you want to use, but for this Tutorial I will use a height of 60 pixels.
THIRD ~~ Take your blank or tile to Image-Magic load the image URL in the window-box, & press the "veiw" button.
NOTE: If using a tile, resize as noted above / example: 470x60
FOURTH ~~ Use the "annotate" button, set your preferrences for the text, & type in the words for the first frame. Example:
Once done, press "output" & save the image [transload to your "Blinky-Banner" sub-directory], & name the image: A.gif
You are now ready to do frame #2 -- simply use your "back" button to return to the annotate feature of I-M, to the annotate page where you entered the text for frame #1....delete that text, & enter the text for frame #2.
NOTE -- You will have to adjust point size to make the text fit the banner blank; you can also change color of text & font style.
Save frame #2 image, & transload to your sub-directory -- name the image B.gif -- Example:
Repeat for frame
#3....& name the final image C.gif
FIFTH ~~ Now you're ready to
put it all together -- get the URL of C.gif & CC&P, take it back to I-M
[do not use your 'back' button to get there; re-enter the URL for C.gif
-- but this time, DELETE the "C.gif" BEFORE you press the 'view'
button.
Example -- you should have something like this,
ending with a / mark:
http://d21c.com/PRINCESS/blinky-banzz/
When the image appears on the next screen, it will have a file extention ending in .miff -- ignore that, & press the 'output' button at top....on the next screen, you want to choose .gif format; then choose 'multi-frame file'; then scroll down to the boxes that are marked "delay" & "loop" --
Delay is the amount of time between blinks -- 100 = 1 second / 200 = 2 seconds / 300
= 3 seconds....50 = ˝ second, etc. -- For this project, I will choose 100 in the delay box -- in the loop box, you will always put 0 [zero].
Then press the 'output' button, & save the banner wherever you want to -- you are DONE!
