HOBO NICKEL - "DAVY CROCKETT"

Davy Crockett stands for the Spirit of the American Frontier. As a young man he was a crafty Indian fighter and hunter. When he was forty-nine years old, he died a hero's death at the Alamo, helping Texas win independence from Mexico. For many years he was nationally known as a political representative of the frontier.

Davy is carved on a 1935-s buffalo nickel and it is signed on the reverse with my usual G hanging J mark. This is a good clean carving with a smooth field and a lot of detail.
Of all the hobo nickels I've seen pictures of, I've never seen one with a coonskin cap. This would be a good one to add to your collection!
