HOBO NICKEL - Lester the "HORSE TRADER"

I grew up on a ranch in Colorado, and every year, in the early fall, the horse traders would show up to buy, or trade for, the colts that were born in the spring. Every year three or four of them came to the ranch, but almost always, Lester was the one that my dad would trade with. He was also the only one of them that my mother would invite to stay for supper. He was an honest man and a fair trader, with a beat up old cowboy hat and lots of curly hair and a quick, but brief, smile.

Lester is carved on a VG/F 1935 Buffalo Nickel that is signed on the reverse with my usual G hanging J mark. The field is very smooth and the detail work is crisp and clean. The curly hair did not show up in the scan even close to as good as it looks when viewed in person. This is a higher grade carving and judging from the feedback I have been getting on my last few carvings, I am quite sure you will be more than pleased to own Lester.

Happy collecting and thanks for looking,
