HOBO NICKEL - "TELEGRAPH OPERATOR"

OK, collectors, take note--here is something you won't find very often. Billzach has been "coaching" me with my carving. I carved this hobo nickel, then I sent it to Bill and he did the detail work so I could see, first hand and up close, how the layout and cuts are done. It is signed with my G hanging J mark and under that is a Z to denote Bill's work. You won't find very many dual signature hobo's. This would be a nice addition to your collection!

It is carved on a strong date, light, full horn, 1937 buffalo nickel. It has a smooth field, lifelike hair, good raised-metal ear, mustache, beard stubble, eyebrow, reworked eye, eyeglasses, reshaped nose, textured hatband, and detailed shirt collar.

This is a "likeness" of the telegraph operator at Dodge City, Kansas, at the time Wyatt Earp was the sheriff there, and is a higher grade carving than all but a few of what you are seeing here on eBay today.

Have fun bidding and thank you for looking,
