This picture does not need an explanation, it's the entrance to the Botanic Gardens.  Once through there, shady paths lead one past all sorts of exotic flowers. Here are some shown in clickable thumbnail format: 
Slowly but steadily the jet lag started to catch up with me, so I decided to leave these beautiful flowers behind and head back to the hotel.
This was a modest start of the vacation, but it made me ready to capture
as many sights Singapore had to offer as I could during the week I
stayed there.
