A giant Buddha in Little India? Isn't India Hindu? Yes, but since there is little strife between the different cultures and their religions in Singapore, they mix without a problem. |
This giant statue, called the Buddha of a Thousand Lights can be found in the Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple located at the end of Racecourt Road as the sign below indicates.![]() The building that houses this Buddha is really not as spectacular as one would expect. If it weren't for the ornate entrance and the sign above the door, one could easily walk past it. ![]() The statue is framed by a strip of small lights and for a donation of S$5.- the attendant will switch them on. ![]() After the light show, I left the temple, put my shoes back on and crossed the street to take a look at yet another Chinese temple |
