Sentosa

At the southern tip of Singapore lies the island of Sentosa. This island has been transformed into an amusement park of sorts. One even pays an admission charge to get onto it.
It can be reached by bus or car, or, if one is courageous enough, on foot, all via a causeway, but the most scenic way to enter the island is by cable car. Which, of course I did. The ride offers a grand view of the city and its harbour and of Sentosa itself, where the most predominant feature is a gigantic Merlion, as can be seen in the vignette above the title. Once on the other side, one has to traverse the inevitable souvenir shops before entering into the open to partake of the scenery. Free busses criss-cross the premises, which makes it easy to go around. The monorail, unfortunately, was out of service.

They say that getting there is half the fun and for riding the cable car to Sentosa that sure is true. Even before boarding the car the fun begins on the ride up to the platform, which this picture tries to illustrate:

And more panoramas like this are waiting when sliding along the cable toward the island.
