It was as if I had never left. Once settled in the hotel I had to get out and refresh my memories of Gothenburg, or in Swedish Göteborg. The best place to start exploring the city is from Drottningstorget in front of the Central Station, while for trips outside town there is the bus terminal behind the station on Nils Ericsonsplatsen. In the center of Drottningstorget stands a small building housing an office of "Tidpunkten" There you can get all the info you need about Gothenburgs publc transit as well as buy tickets for it. Since I planned to use it extensively I bought a so called "rabattkort" ( disount card) for SEK100.- ( About US14:50 ) which gave me 14 coupons. Normally a single coupon bought from the driver would cost SEK10.- and with a local trip costing 2 coupons I did save some "kronor" this way. Needless to say, I went thru a lot of those cards. Every day I took the bus from the hotel to the station and back. It would otherwise have been a half hour walk each way.

A streetcar on Drottnigstorget with the Post office in the background. Quite a number of tram and bus lines have stops on this square, which is crisscrossed by tram rails. One day when I was filming the station I held up a tram, since I stood right in the middle of the track. It took some intense bell ringing by the driver to make me realize that is was I who was in the way!

Another picture of a tram, this one taken during my walk from the hotel to the central station.
