![]() The Aldstadt (Old Town) lies on either side of the river Limmat. Most of my pictures were taken in the eastern part of the town, except the one of the chess players at the end of this chapter. They happened to be playing their game on the other side. The town consists of a dense network of narrow cobbled and sometimes steep streets., The alley on the photo below has steps on te right to make it easy climbing this street. A lot of those steep streets have those and they are particularly useful on rainy or snowy days, I might add. ![]() These narrow alleys are lined with antique shops, art galleries as well as small hotels, cafés, restaurants, beerhalls and fast-food outlets. |
