Schloss Benrath.
A Rococo style structure, built in the 18th century as a pleasure palace for Elector Paladine Carl Theodor von der Pfaltz. It now houses a Museum and is also used as a venue for various cultural activities, such as concerts and exhibitions.
Unfortunately, on the day of my visit the weather, which had been fantastic all the time, did not cooperate. It was overcast, windy and a bit drizzly. Not as nice as it seems to be on the picture on the left, which shows the palace and the surrounding park from the air. I walked the entire length of that pond and saw nothing but still bare trees.

When I saw this statue braving the weather I felt cold and in need of something warm, like a nice cup of coffee, which I found in the Schlosspark Cafe.

Coffee in Europe is strong and, at least in Germany and The Netherlands, comes with a cookie. When at home with the family the cookie tin is passed around. In a restaurant one just takes what sits on the saucer, if you can see it, that is!

And after the coffee I hopped on the Straßenbahn and headed for the AquaZoo
