On the second visit we drove, because we were planning to get high. Hey folks, just kidding, but there was just another tower to climb: the Euromast.
What better way to see Rotterdam? The only difference with the Rhine Tower in Düsseldorf was, that the Euromast's viewing platform was OPEN!!! No windows, just a ballustrade and, as fate would have it, on that day, a brisk breeze, which caused an accute attack of acrophobia. I clung to the building and left the filming to the more daring. Then there was an open flight of metal stairs to a next level, where one could board a rotating elevator that took one up to the very top and down again. Needless to say, that at the end of that experience, I had a strong cup of coffee and a cookie in the tower's ( enclosed ) restaurant!
On the drive to the tower we noticed these statues, which immediately reminded me of the one in Düsseldorf, staring up to the Rhine tower. Could they be related?
And then there was this floating hotel, cum Asian restaurant, cum Asian market. On the photo at the top of this page you can see it from across the river while, on the next page you look down on it from the tower.
