HAPPY BIRTHDAY BERT

On Your Special Day

Most of us have only one birthday but Bert Steiner celebrates two of them. Bert received a new heart on September 10, 1990, at Jackson Memorial Medical Center, in Miami, Florida. This website was created to honor Bert and congratulate him on his special 10th re-birthday. He and his lovely wife, Adrienne, live in south Florida. They have two daughters, Randi and Gail. Randi and her husband, John have four children, Amanda (age 11), Gregory (age 9), Janelle age 7) and Jason (age 6). They are truly a loving and giving family.

Bert is an asset to his community and is loved and admired by all the members of the Have-A-Heart Support Group, of which he is the president.

Because of Bert's efforts and excellent leadership, he and the Have-A-Heart Support Group were presented the 2000 Miracle Maker Award by the South Florida Transplant Foundation.

Bert's daughter, Gail, wrote to the American Society of Transplant Physicians (unbeknown to him) to nominate him for the "Outstanding Achievement Award." Bert won the award and it was presented to him for demonstrating exceptional accomplishments which improve the lives and further the cause of fellow transplant recipients. The presentation was given at the closing ceremonies of the National Kidney Foundation 2000 U.S. Transplant Games held in Orlando, (on June 24, 2000) before a crowd of 10,000 spectators. There were 2000 transplant athletes from all over the country who participated in the competitions and over 1200 donor families attended the event. Two awards were given by the A.S.T.P, one in the 18 and under category (given to a 10 year old boy), and one in the 18 and over category which went to Bert. We are all so very proud of him and delighted that he was honored - Thanks to Gail. There is no one who is more deserving.

Here is a photo of Bert taken at the Have A Heart Support Group Luncheon in June. He is proudly showing the 2000 Miracle Maker award and the plaque he received at the Games.
