Indicates the start of the event or a restart
after a caution period.
YELLOW - Caution
Slow and hold position. Indicates an unsafe
condition on the race track. Drivers are required
to slow down and maintain their position. Cars
may not pass under the yellow flag.
BLACK - Get Off Track
This is for penalties, Car leaking liquids, Parts falling off, or too slow a speed to be safe.
Stop Scoring
If a driver does not pit within five laps of receiving a black flag they will be shown a black flag with a white 'X' on it.
This flag tells the driver that they are no longer being scored by NASCAR and have effectively been disqualified from the race until they obey the previous black flag and pit.
BLUE/DIAGONAL STRIPE - Move Over
Indicates that a faster car is overtaking the car being signaled and the car being signaled should
be prepared to give consideration to the
overtaking traffic.Not mandatory, but NASCAR takes a dim view if ignored.
RED - Stop
Indicates the complete stoppage of the race due
to some unsafe condition...such as rain, bad accident, emergency vehicles crossing the track.
CROSSED FLAGS - Halfway
This signals the halfway point of the race.No matter which 2 flags are used.
WHITE - Final Lap
One more lap to finish.Drivers will do all they can to finish higher.
