BISBEE AZ

On November 7 we left Tucson about 9 a m and headed for the historic town of Bisbee. Tooling east on Interstate 10, we took the AZ route 80 thru Toombstone and on to Bisbee. After about two hours of driving and slowly climbing nearly 3000 feet thru the Mule Mountains we came to old Bisbee.

We walked around the town and wandered into a antique shop where we found an old fashioned gas pump and an old Coca Cola soda fountain.

Since it was almost lunch time we wandered up to the old Copper Queen Hotel:

This hotel was built in the days when the Copper Queen Mine was in its hey-day and retains its old fashioned charm. We went into the restaurant there and had lunch. I thought of Shirl as we sat there eating. She would love that place.

We were going to visit the Shady Dell Campground where they had the old silver RV's from the 1950's on display while in Bisbee, and we drove around a couple times within a half mile or so of it but never saw it. We gave up and drove on to Douglass and then to the Cochise Stronghold. It was dark by the time we returned home.
