POWER BUTTON
Turns power on and off. Wait until the printer stops printing and press the power button down for 2 seconds to power off the printer. Never use a power strip, or surge protector to turn off the printer, as the print head will not be in the proper position. It may be harmful to your printer if you turn the printer off using an external switch. The power light is on when the printer is ready to print. It flashes when the printer is receiving a print job, charging ink, or cleaning the print head.
It also flashes when the print head moves to the ink cartridge replacement position.
MAINTENANCE BUTTON
If your printouts are unexpectedly light, or dots or lines are missing from the image, you may need to clean the print head. This unclogs the nozzles so they can deliver ink properly. Print head cleaning uses ink, so clean it only if quality declines.
To clean the print nozzles, make sure the printer is turned on but not printing, and the Ink-Out light is off. Press and hold the Maintenance button for three seconds. Cleaning takes about 30 seconds, during which the printer makes some noise and the power light flashes. When the cleaning cycle is complete, the power light will stop flashing. A more thorough nozzle cleaning is performed through the printer driver software utilities. This is available only when your printer is connected directly to your computer, not over a network.
INK REPLACEMENT BUTTON
Press the Ink Replacement button to start the
cartridge replacement procedure when
the ink light is on or blinking.
