The major US cellular carriers use the
[10_digit_number@cell.carrier_domain.com]
format for SMS (Short Message Service)
to text capable cell phones,
with a limit of 160 characters in the
subject and message body (total).

Example: To send a text message to an AT&T cell phone subscriber whose cell phone number is 123-456-7890, the addressee would be:1234567890@txt.att.net

Go to your "WRITE AN E-MAIL MESSAGE" page, remove your sig, and type the message in the text field.

  • Do NOT use the 1 in front of the area code and do
NOT use hyphens - or parentheses () in the cell phone number/SMS text message address.

    THEN HIT SEND

If you want to send a picture to a cell phone whose Carrier does not have a specific address to receive a picture message
(Example: 1234567890@tmomail.net), you may be able to send it as a text message, as follows:

    1. Bring the picture up on your screen or monitor, then SEND as a text message.

    2. When the recipient opens the text message, the URL of the picture will appear on the cell phone.

    3. By choosing the appropriate selections from the OPTIONS menu (for my cell phone, that would be WEB ADDRESS).

    4. The URL will be downloaded to the phone as a picture, and can then be saved in the recipient's choice of folders.

  • NOTE 1: An Audio file (.mid, .wav, etc.)_ may also be sent to a cell phone from WEbtv, like this:

Capture the URL for the Audio file - then, go to your Write an Email page and paste the URL in the body of the message text field. SEND it to the cell phone.

The recipient may then follow procedure outlined above for downloading the URL for a picture.

  • NOTE 2: T-Mobile charges $1.99 per MB for data access, searches, and more. Other carriers may also charge a download fee, depending on what type plan you have.
