KIMBA'S STORY

(when the cursor goes around an image click for a surprise)

No one knows where life began for Kimba, nor what her first days of life were like. She was found in the parking lot of a television station - just a ragged little ball of fur all alone and abandoned. She was taken to a place called Adopt-a-Pet. Because she was so weak and not at all well, one of the attendants took her home and provided needed love and care.

Every Saturday morning various cats and dogs who need homes are brought to the television station and introduced. One Saturday morning in July 1997 a cat called Six-Toes was shown to the public. This cat sort of appealed to a human called Louise. So she hopped into the car and drove 15 miles and even got lost trying to find the place. She looked at all of the cats and almost went home with a darling marmalade colored kitten. But in came a cat with tabby markings and muted calico coloring. Her name was Kimba!! A few minutes later a card board box and a bag of food were provided and we were on our way to her new home.

It didn't take Kimba long at all to adjust to her knew surroundings. She followed her knew human everywhere. Her favorite toy was a stuffed rabbit head. It was so much fun to hide it and see how soon she could find it. She loved the Bell South TV Commercial - the one with all of the dog tails wagging. She even recognized its music - sometimes turning around in mid activity. As she got ready to spring the commercial ended - bummer!!
Kimba is a bit of an acrobat. She loves to climb screen windows. (Here in Florida the screens are in the inside of the windows.) There is a place on top of the kitchen cabinets with nothing there - She likes to go there and doze. She can also balance on top of two open cabinet doors like an acrobat. Life is good for a cat named Kimba who is now quite healthy.

It is now the year 2000 and I have become a "step mother" or is it "foster mother." In July a tiny new kitten moved into my house. At first I really had misgivings. I didn't need any new companion. I growled and snarled. But this little upstart didn't give up. He meowed and kept coming to me begging for attention. Well!!!! What could I do? The next thing I knew This little creature discovered that I had nipples. It didn't seem to make any difference that I had never been a mother and I certainly couldn't provide any nourishment. For a while we shared the same bowl. I really like dry food best but I did eat the canned foor that Julio prefers. But now I stick to my dry food and Julio eats his canned food and we use separate bowls. So all is well.

We do love to play and chase each other all over the house. If I find a place I like Julio always joins me and sometimes even takes it over. We like chilly nights because then we can really cuddly and become foot warmers. We live in south Florida so what we call chilly would probably be a heat wave elsewhere.

Kimba died February 28, 2003. While a very small kitten a vetrinarian noticed that she had been injured just before her tail which could have rendered her paralyzed. Fortunately this did not happen although the week before her death she had difficulty walking and was obviously in pain. Me and Julio will miss her so much. He'll have to be a grown up kitty now -- no more nipples for him to suck on.
