My momma always wanted
A flower garden fair,
But tiny feet would trample
The seeds she'd plant with care.
But a garden she did grow
From the seeds of life within.
Thus a living garden grew,
Then her gardening did begin.
Gladys was her Orchid flower
A rare and lovely child.
Carmen was her Violet flower
Bashful, shy and mild.
Arlene strong like Tiger Lilies
Loyal, brave and true.
Carol, with many faces
As the Pansy flowers do.
Doris, light and airy
As the Lilies free and fair.
Helen, sweet Carnation,
Needing tender loving care.
Priscilla, was her Sunflower,
All gold and brown and bright.
Rolinda was her white white Rose
To make your heart delight.
Roland, as her counterpart,
Her twin, the blood red Rose,
And Bobby was her Wildflower,
The only one she chose.
You see, the first nine flowers
Were planted with her seed,
But Bobby, little Wildflower
Had to know a mother's need.
So she clasped him to her bosom
And tended him with care.
Then she let grow profusely
In her flower garden fair.
Ten tiny little flowers,
Ten folded buds of hope,
Grew strong within her sunlight.
Grew strong enough to cope....
With worldy storms and crisis,
And weeds that caused them strife.
Ten tiny little flowers.
