The Galapagos Islands consist of about 40 different islands which lie some 600 miles west of Equador near the equator in South America

tortoise
This is the giant tortoise for which the Galapagos is so famous.Galapagos means tortoise in Spanish.

seal
This is a California Fur Seal and a Blue-Footed Boobie.

sealions
This is an example of the number of sea lions that covered every beach we visited. Please note the person walking near them. That show how tame all the animals and birds are here, you have to walk around them!

iguanas
These are Marine Iguanas - the only amphibious Iguanas in the world which is an example of evolution so evident on these islands where Darwin spent so much time to come up with his theory.


This is a Red-Footed Boobie.
