I don't think there's a
more beautiful skyline than Chicago's.
This was a "ride" on Navy
Pier. The balloon was tethered so it didn't go very high.
They were filming a
movie while we were there and this helicopter was always overhead.
Our home for eight days
Calling all boats.
It's even more prettyful
after dark
Here we are in Holland,
Michigan and here's the town crier
More proof that we're in
Holland
Our boat docked right in
front of this restaurant. We had a delicious lunch here.
Being totally brilliant, I won
this hat by guessing our captain's age.
One of the 76 trillion
bridges that opened for us.
We took a long walk
along the boardwalk and this was a fishing hut along the way. I
believe it's just an curiosity as there were artifacts inside.
See the dead fish
the gull was eating?
Turkey vultures -
pretty, they're not.
Downtown Manistee
Obligatory sunset photo
Guess we could no
longer say our boat was full of it
See the two otters?
This is the sign for the
ferry to Mackinaw City. We were on Mackinac Island where no motorized
vehicles are allowed.
"Bic Mac" the bridge to
Mackinac Island. It's five miles long.
Some of the hovels on the
island.
One of the many ferries that
run constantly from the mainland to the island. The rooster tail is
just for show.

View from Arch
Rock - we walked up 23,000 steps to get here.
Arch Rock
Skull Cave - According
to tradition, this is the cave in which English fur trader Alexander
Henry hid during the Indian uprising of 1763. He claimed the floor of
the cave was covered with human bones, presumably Indian.
Sign at The Grand Hotel - not
my kind of place.
Topiary on hotel's
grounds
The Grand Hotel - the
cheapest room is over $400. Least expensive lunch, $45. I'll pass.
Luggage "truck"
This is how UPS makes their
deliveries to the island
Some of the 630 zillion
lighthouses we saw.
How stupid . . . I guess
Sturgeon Bay is a major target for terrorists because the dock was
roped off and a police car stayed there all the time we were in
port.
I hope no one was
inside when this outhouse tipped over.
Every bird has a rock and
every rock has a bird.
See how large a buoy is?
We have no idea what is is -
probably something to clean weeds or sumpin'
Downtown Sturgeon
Bay - nary a terrorist in sight. Phew . . .
This lighthouse kept
leaning so they had to keep propping it with more support.
Breakwater into
Sturgeon Bay.
I just love this
photo.
We had a gift
exchange and Youper was what Dave got. I came into the cabin and he
was sleeping with him.
Our view of Milwaukee
from the boat.

At 10:00 the wings of
the Museum are opened.

Fog is
coming (this is Jackie's photo - I was still in bed)
Same view with fog. The fog
is so dense in Chicago, when Beverly and I would walk to school, we'd
take turn walking ahead of the other until we disappeared in the fog.
It didn't take much to amuse us.
