GO TO ENGLAND

This is a
pair of White Terns (also known as Fairy Terns) which are
quite small and very gregarious and fly around your head.
Their beaks are tipped in blue.
This is a parent and baby Laysan Albatross.
This island is 1.5 miles by 3 miles and 350,000 birds
inhabit it until the chicks fledge (about six months). Once
the juveniles go to sea, they don't return to land for 5 to
7 years and never touch land in all that time.
This is a small example of the
number of birds (which are the size of a chicken) that
cover this small island.
