Massive statue found near the ruins in the Valley of the Temples. I think he looks like the Michelin Bib guy.

Temple of Concordia

The U-shaped cutout on this stone shows how they lifted such heavy objects. Ropes were strung into the channel and the stones were hoisted to their resting place.

Here's a replica of the Bib dude where he was found.

We went to the Citta' Di Piazza Armerina which was a private villa. The mosaics were discovered in the 70's and are some of the finest ever found. No one knows who owned or built the structure.

We stopped for lunch in this village by the Ionian Sea.

I wonder if this dog is an active member of the Hell's Angels.

The patio and view from our room in Taormina.

Plaza in Taormina - our hotel was at the very top of the hill. I'm so glad we didn't have to walk back to it.

Views of Mt. Etna from our hotel room. You can see smoke coming out of the crater.

Hydrofoil we took to Lipari, one of the Aeolian Islands.

Here's proof positive that we did some hiking.

Lava flow from last eruption of Mt. Etna. It is still steaming after two years.
