Inspired by an issue of "Stitch 'n Sew" magazine, in which unusual fabrics in unusual arrangements
blurred the lines between the foreground and background or between block pieces.
I decided to make the unimportant parts come forward.
It was also the first time I had ever set blocks without sashing.
This birthday gift for daughter Valerie was an interesting experiment at that time.
