"Lady of the House," 2008

This began as an Impressionistic scenic print I had bought on our Quilt Quest trip.
I altered it with raw edge applique, especially enjoying the nice row of gladioli,
and the trees that looked something like the cypress trees that attracted the French painters.
Then I stitched it with several types of variegated threads, which made me realize how much they can add to a scene.
I appliqued the cat (the "lady of the house"), as this was a birthday gift for Mer, a bona fide cat person.
