Cussing

Picked up a bad habit, about the age of 14 or so...... and thru the years I've refined this to a fine art. It's gotten so bad, I really have to watch myself around children, so as to not rub off on their impressionable little minds.

One thing about speaking our Native language, there are no cuss words. About the worst thing you can do is tell someone they are "nasty" or 'ugly.

But you can't haul off and hurl a nice twelve word expletive sentence at someone like you can in English.

The first time I said "Dang", as a reply to something my Mother had said got me a pretty good reprimand, so it wasn't for lack of effort on my parents' part to curb this habit.

Nope.

I learned to cuss at school.

So, as the years have gone by, I've increased my cussing vocabulary to the point now that it is a veritable Thesaurus of it's own........

I've even gotten very creative with this habit......as almost inventing some new epithets to use at the proper time.

But, it's gotta stop.

The five year old comes up the other day, as she was staying over with her Auntie.

Drops the top dollop off of her just bought ice cream cone........

"Well, S*** the Bed!" she exclaims.

And then her mother and the wife turn to look at you-know-who......as, where else could she have possibly learned THAT particular turn of phrase?

And worse yet, hearing that phrase come out of the angelic five year old's mouth, was so out of place, that along with the accusing looks of the women in my direction, I found myself in a nervous giggle.........which only prompted the five year old to repeat the phrase over and over and laugh...."S*** the Bed, S*** the Bed".......and giggle about it herself.

"WE don't use words like that young lady," her mother declares.......oh boy.

"Uh huh, Uncle does it all the time, doncha Uncle"?

You know, I've found the taste of Lava soap to have a certain essence of it's own of late..........

Anyways, cussing..........gotta quit.

But, 'fiddle-dee-dee' just doesn't have quite the same punch to it, does it?
