Starshine

Starshine

Hoping this ordinary summer

night would never end,

A night full of stars that neither of us

had ever touched before...

We knew the closeness
between us was a feeling
that would come only once
in a lifetime and would last
'til the sky collapsed around us

I hoped your hand would never
leave my own, for the touch
made butterflies flutter inside.
I prayed that this feeling
of another inside me would
carry me to the days when
thrills had long since ended,
somewhere under
star-clouded sky.

We closed our eyes
to lock in the emotion
that was otherwise spilling
out much like the sparkles in the
eyes of romance. My laughter reminded
you that love is wonderfully gentle
under these iris-shaped stars
We hoped, quite recklessly,
that forever had just begun...

Under soft moonlight,
we looked like skilled lovers.
You, the busy bee sucking
nectar from a flower.

We sighed

in perfect

contentment.
Clothed in streaming ribbons
of uninhibited love.
This kind of love
is meant to last
as long as the
starshine
