When Winds Cease

When Winds Cease

Stars dance like jewels
In the midst of an ordinary sky
Nothing particularly spectacular
To widen a sleepy eye

Silhouettes on the window shade
Moving in the breeze
Owls hoot a warning
From the distant trees

Across the quiet cityscape
Minds settle and clouds slow
The moon's shadowy face
Looks down as if to know

Night's hands tuck in
The hillside's nocturnal strays
Soon dawn will open
One more glorious day

Then comes the moment
When the winds cease to be
When God comes to save us
And set our souls free

In a single instant
Worlds end and times collide
Jesus opens His heart
And lets us see inside
