The Magic Remains
I never meant to make you mine,
though your pillow was a softer
comfort than silky sands of time.
My only solemn intention was to make
you feel alive, to bring you warmth,
to touch the wildness of your heart,
to the mellow contours of my breast.
I came purely out of love, selfless,
unconditional giving.
I never came to you to take a
single thing, just to open you,
to know your goodness, to gallop
through the stallion of emotion,
to feel your eyes shine
in my candle-lit soul.
You have my heart, you are
the cavernous depth of my being.
Who could ask for more
of you than that which you gave.
I never required you to stay.
I hold no rightful claim.
My feelings guided me and
I have no regret in that.
It doesn't need reply~
I came and gave fully,
though not so wisely, but no
ache remains with your absence.
Our embrace gently circles me still.
No snowy-cold wanting seeps onto my
sheets at night. I dance alone, but
carefully keeping step to our fading
rhythm so no one will notice the music
of us. The magic we clung to
remains in my heart.
