Having never had a dog before, I was a little in the dark as to what her needs and requirements would be.
My main reason for wanting a dog was a hearing problem. I thought I could train one to let me know when the phone was ringing, or someone was at the door. Never did I realize what a true friend she would become.
I found a notice at the Vet's office for 2 black poodles. When I inquired as to their whereabouts, I was given the information and proceeded to go see them. I immediately fell in love with one, which I brought home with me that very day.
From then on it was a 2 way street, she loved me and I loved her.
I never had the usual problems of chewing and tearing up things, only one item did she try to chew and that was a remote control.

Yes she did for me what I had hoped, told me when the phone was ringing, or when someone was at the door. She did this with no training, it was like she knew what she was supposed to do.
Today, Tasha is older (15½) and has many physical problems. She is blind, deaf, has arthritis and an inoperable tumor in her tummy. She has her sense of smell and gets around well for a blind dog. If she thinks I might be going to go somewhere, she will come and smell me. She still likes to go in the car.
The first 8 or 9 years she took care of me, the past 6 years I have taken care of her. She is still my faithful companion, I'm hoping to have her for a few more years.
