Oh, look! Guess what's coming around the corner and down the street ... it's getting closer. Now I see it, the parade is coming! The Wholesome Valley parade is here! There's Chubby and Cherry with beautiful, huge white plumes bobbing, as they prance along with bright red ribbons woven through their long manes! Chickie's wagon is loaded with people and a "pie safe," the old fashioned kind that holds every kind of pie a body can think of! Everyone in the Valley contributed one of their favorite kinds! The horse's bells are clinking to Mary O's accordian music - how her music flows, like the breath of a fresh Valley breeze ... What splendor! As the Parade's Coordinator, Chickie, in her best outfit is holding on to the reins - look how they prance!
Who is in the wagon? Oh, look! It's Tom, the Birthday Boy, waving his hat at the crowd ... and Vance there by his side waving his "Tom Terriffic Day" banner, and reciting a brand new poem he created especially for this occasion! Here comes Granny Pat and Wolfie, in her chicken chasin' VW, with Betty Boop and her cell phone waitin' fer a certain phone call. Oh, now here comes a beautiful sight! There is Trudy, dressed in a royal blue satin gown with a hyacinth blue boa and her wide brimmed hat, riding in the USA Drifter's '57 Chevy, along with George and Charlie. Look! Look!
Have you ever seen such a sight? Sonny in his HTML office on wheels ... and now Mary D, one of the checker champions of the Valley (not to mention a renowned decorator) wearin' a checkerboard dress and tap shoes, with PG and her fire-engine red parasol, skippin' to the music and tossing nasturtiums to the children as she hops along ... and James with his reporter's hat, pad, and pencil, trying to take it all down as his raccoon keeps slipping off his shoulder. Joyce is next, in her RV with all her kitties and doggies and birdies singing their hearts out. The kittens keep swatting at doggies as they go past their window. PG scolds them - they don't hear....LOL Picks and her darlin' little Snickers, both dressed in black leather, black goggles, and black scarves with black leather gloves (4 for Snicks), and cruisin' on their chromed-up Harley. Snickers sits up so proudly in the side car! Wait a minute! Double take!
Land sakes alive! Joni is wearing a full length, deep-red velvet gown, with a sweetheart neckline and princess style that makes her look like royalty, fer sure! She has a diamond tiarra and diamond earrings, too, an' Missy Gracie, sittin' up there with Mayor Momma Joni, just as proud as can be! A special occasion, so her nails were painted red and white stripes to complement her pearl necklace ... Gracie, that is! Mercy me! How that necklace shines in the sun!
There's the queen of the Valley Mercantile, our own Happy Lady, Pat, with her basket of goodies, tossing them out to the crowd. Matthew, Patrick and Justin catch their share, you can be sure! Our summertime gal, Yak, is riding with some young man sittin' by her side, looking as cute as ever in her floral chiffon dress, white gloves, and pumps. Look at her, she tosses her hanky and the fella jumps down and gets it for her! She giggles! ... Baker's runnin' back and forth on his roller blades, snappin' shots left and right and up and down. Whew! He's good! Our Jim is doin' wheelies, with green and yellow streamers flyin' from his wheelchair, 'n he's wearing a snazzy red and white striped shirt with white pearl cuff links, and he has his homemade fishin' flys hanging all over him - his girls are tryin' ta' keep up with him.
Rod's over there with his easel, and he's trying to paint with a fury to catch all these fabulous sights! He has so many subjects, he can't paint fast enough! LOL! Granny's boys, Justin, Matthew and Patrick are now riding their little scooters ... they're coming up tight behind the next vehicle. Here comes the gang from Our Town, in a yellow convertible. There's Eric, Norma, Winnie, Carol, Klara, Edna, Kim, Cheryl, and of course, Nancy of Shady Acres on her horse - both horse and rider are a splendid sight!. They're throwing maple sugar candy out and the boys are catching 'em all!
Dottie has her poodle in the wheelbarrow she's pushing, and I see it's loaded with potted geraniums to hand out to lucky Valley folks, and they are both wearing bright pink bows. Chuck and Ruth are riding their three wheelers, with baskets stuffed with get-well, sunshine gifts. They're waving and singing - what a cheery couple! There's Annette, running to catch up 'n trying to hold onto her bouquet of long-stemmed roses! They match her apricot fluff dress! Beauty to Behold!
Now there is Betty, Birthe and Diana, all dressed in silver and gold, twirling their batons and marching in time to the music. Lordy, look at them twirl!. Karmakat is wearing a stunning deep blue sapphire necklace! Klassy Kat! Look at our ol' Bud, waving his swatter, chasing away the Grasshoppers. Now there's Cora and Becky, riding down from the cabin in their decorated Jeep, yellow streamers aflyin'! They're tossing daisies along the way! Of course Laura has her gang here. There's Joey, who just had a birthday, and Missy, who came along to share in the Valley fun. Dorothy, from Oklahoma, and Liz, from Iowa just came in on the Valley train and made it in time! Hi, girls! Look how nice they look, each of them on a trapeze gracefully swinging above the truck.
Around the bend, and there you come upon the biggest barbecue set up, and three huge tents all set with tables and place settings for three hundred people! Gary is pokin' the coals, while listening to his pocket CD with his cool Blues, and Charlie is brushing the two sides of beef with barbecue sauce - with his ear phones in place, of course. Just look at the rows and rows of corn soaking in buckets of water waitin' to be roasted. There's another pit with two hundred pounds of Idahos double wrapped in foil, just roastin' away. 200 fryers cooked and on deck - what a feast in store for the Valley! OH, MY GOSH! ... Now look whose bringing up the rear! You guessed it - that mean ole ornery Rooster! Wait, Charlie threw him an ear of corn! There, that'll hold him until the parade is over!
