Walt's Barbeque Ranch

Years passed by since Grumpy started his Bait and Tackle shop and the town of Wholesome Valley grew. Many of the town's residents came by often to the bait shop on the way to the lake and spent a little time and money with Grumpy. One fellow visited more often than the others since he was an avid fisherman. This fellow was Walt, the town philosopher. When he was not releasing his philosophy on the residents from the gazebo, he was jawing with Grumpy.

One day while sitting with Grumpy on the porch of the bait shop, he looked up at a knob close by and said, "Grumpy, you know how much I like to Barbeque,

and you know for sure how good I am at cooking those baby back ribs. I think I'll go by and see Slick Sammy at the WV Realty and see if that knob is for sale. If it is I'll build me a Barbeque place and treat the whole town to my specialty." "Good on you, Walt." said Grumpy, "You just do that. We can be neighbors and exchange bait for ribs and vicey versa."

Walt did buy the knob and with him cutting the logs to build it and with Grump's old mule, Ruth, hauling them up to the knob, he soon had the place built.

Walt, of course had a grand opening and pert near all the residents of the town showed up. Not to miss out on a chance to impart his wisdom to such a large gathering, Walt put a wooden crate in the middle of the dining room, jumped on it and started philosophying. Well you can guess what happened next. Those good old boys who had a tad too much brew to drink started throwing rib bones at Walt. Not to be outdone, Walt started throwing those bones back at the old boys. The ladies had to duck from being hit. One of the genteel ladies there by the name of Yak, yelled out "FOOD FIGHT!" and all hell broke loose.

Yep. That was the grand opening of Walt's Barbeque Ranch. Fun was had by all. Grumpy helped his old pal clean up the mess the next day and hauled the left overs back to his shop to sell as bait.

Walt (WalterRC) passed away early in the month of November, 2000. This page is left intact in his memory. May God be with you, Walt, 'til we meet again....from your friends in Wholesome Valley.
