Did you go on class trips when you were in school. I was lucky living
in NYC (Brooklyn to be exact) and were taken on many trips.
I remember going to the 1939 Worlds Fair....saw this new thing called
television.
Went to the Museum of Natural History and the Planetarium....and Museum
of Modern Art and other museums.
Went to the aquarium that was then located in lower Manhattan but has
since moved to Coney Island.
Went to the Statue of Liberty. There were other trips I can't remember
but do remember they were all exciting and fun.
What trips do you remember ?

We did not have class trips but did have class picnics.
My senior picnic, my date and I had his father's bass boat and we had a
wonderful time on the lake. Needless to say, I was the envy of some of
the other girls. Their date did not have a boat.
We all took a lot of food for the picnic and shared with everyone.
One other class picnic was in the sixth grade which also included a
field trip to the lake where we got all out drinking water from and saw
how they processed it and added the florine and such. I think you call
it the water filtration plant???
That time we just took our own lunch. Actually forgot all about those
picnics. Thanks for the reminder.

I was in the Mesquite High School Band and we went to the Rose Bowl
Parade.. 8^( I had a dang jealous boyfriend and I didn't go.. Made me
so mad.. I had worked all year on bake sales and paper drives and car
washes to earn the money.. And I didn't get to go.. And he was a
creepy guy too.. Grrrr!

We had picnics and skating parties, but I don't remember having any
class trips.

The only class trip I ever remember taking was going to Indianapolis to
the State Capitol Building. Nothing like the trips that your class
took. That must have been so exciting.

Gosh, too bad you didn't go. What a fun trip that would have been.
What instrument did you play?

I remember going to museums when I was too small to know what men looked
like, and we girls were fascinated by male statues.
I went on more class trips when I was volunteering or subbing. You can't
even imagine what it was like taking a class of Special Ed children to a
dairy. There was one adult to 4 children.

I played the clarinet.. I was pretty good too.. Doctor said it was good
for my breath.. I had asthma and it really helped me with my breathing

One class trip I remember is to the University of Illinois College in
Champaign. We went in cars and my teacher accidently ran a red light. We
were all escorted to a jail & all the students were taken to cells,
until the teacher was cleared to go. What an experience!?! We kids had
fun, the cell doors weren't locked. We thought it was pretty neat and
couldn't wait til we got back home to tell our parents of our fun
day.:-)
PS Busses were used for trips afterwards.

Do you still have a clarinet Mary Lynn? Wonder if you could still
remember how to play music on one?
Mary Lynn 7/10 602p
I doubt if I could play one even if I still had one.. Takes a lot of
breath.. When Ken was in Jr High school he played the in the band for a
while and I played his.. Don't know what we did with it I probably sold
it when he gave it up.
I just loved playing..

My 8th grade class trip took us to the Amish Country in Pennsylvania (I
went to school in NJ). I remember riding in the bus behind the horse and
carriages. We ate at a wonderful Amish restaurant and that was the first
and last time I had Shoo Fly Pie. We visited different farm houses and
were around a lot of animals. It was different for us because we all
grew up in the city. I still have the pictures I took on that class
trip.
