Mine was at "Texas Creme Donut Shop" in Lubbock Texas. We made fried donuts and cinnamon rolls. We made thousands of them a day. There was a long vat with a conveyer belt that the dough moved through hot oil to fry them. After they drained a bit the belt took them through a waterfall effect of sugar glaze. They came out on racks that we stacked so they could cool. We then had to bag them. They were put a dozen of,and 1/2 dozen to a bag. They had to be put in just so as not to mash them or ruin the glaze, and they fit tight in the bag. Pretty soon you got the hang of it & it was easy.
I don't think I have ever eaten anything so good as a warm donut or c roll just after it came through the glaze. I can almost taste them yet. Better than Krispy Creme!
The shop also made fried fruit pies and other things but I never worked in that dept.

I worked in a small cafe called "Bobs Cafe" It was in walking distance of my house. My best girlfriend worked there and she got me the job. I got the first shift, starting at 6:00 a.m. All men on their way to work. Bob, had a drinking problem. Sometimes, he would be drunk when I got there and it was just getting light outside. When that happened, the guys got cold cereal. I did know how to make the coffee and toast. In spite of that, I did love working there. When Bob wasn't drunk, he was a sweet old man. Brings back alot of memories!

My first real paying job was with the city of Stockton Parks and Rec. They have a theme park here called "Pixie Woods" . It has boat rides ,train ride, a large and small merry-go-round, animals ,wading pool, storybook land, concession stand, a place for the kids to fish ,slides, a big birthday room, etc. I was 14 yrs. and I a "Pixie". I had to wear green tights, a green pixie shirt (I made) and a green pixie hat. I did just about all the jobs around the park from running the rides, putting on puppet shows at storybook land, feeding the animals, etc. I worked there for 2 seasons. Before that I was a candy stripper at the county hospital. (volunteer).

I used to take my sons out there and even had a few birthday parties for them there. Now I am taking my grandchildren. Geez,..it seems like just a few years ago that I was a "pixie". I agree with Peter Pan "I don't wanta grow-up"

What a fun job that must have been, I'd have loved it working with all the kids...

My first one was working on a soda fountain, (old fashioned) in a very ancient 5 and 10 store...It was fun too..
it was before the self-serve counters and there was a clerk behind EACH counter...
To-day is sooo different...eh ???

Car hop for A&W Root Beer or the company called us Car Hostesses. Lot of fun even in the dead of winter and the rain. Met first hubby there too. I would not trade those car hop days for anything. I had a ball.

Sounds a lot like how they make Krispy Creme donuts. We have a store here where you can watch them being made. Can't imagine anything tasting better than a hot, freshly made donut.

My first job, other than babysitting, was working at a snack counter in a drug store. I made and served hot sandwiches and ice cream desserts. Later I graduated to working the cash register at the front of the store.

My first job was a part time one when I was a senior in high school. It was at The Outlet Shop ladies clothing store.I worked there on Saturdays and any days I was off from shcool. The owner was a Jew and he was very stern.I was scared to death of him. LOL His policy was to not let a customer out the door without buying something.LOL And if someone did leave without buying something then we clerks got chewed out.I only worked there until I graduated.

My first was a 9 and it was repacking shoe polish from 5 gallon buckets into smaller tins used at shoe shine stands in downtown Toppenish. Welived over two miles from downtown. I had to go to the Greyhound bus depot downtown to get the 5 gallon buckets and carry them home. Could only carry one at a time. Sometimes I made 3 trips. Not often though.

My first job out of high school was a bookkeeper for a car dealership. Other than the service man in the shop, I was the only other employee. In addition to bookkeeping, you might say I was also the parts manager. When the service man wanted a part, I would get it for him. And I was responsible for maintaining inventory and ordering parts. I really enjoyed the work and I knew a lot about cars at that time. In fact, I had an '85 Olds that left be stranded so many time I was afraid AAA would cancel me. A friend showed me how to change the module in the distributor that was causing me all the trouble and costing me a fortune. I kept a module on hand and would change it myself saving me a ton of money. I finally sold the car for junk. If I remember correctly, it had about 140,000 miles on it.
