WHEN YOU WERE A TEENAGER DID YOU GO TO BED WITH YOUR HAIR IN CURLERS.
BOBBY PINS, NET OR RAGS.
ME I USED BOBBY PINS FOR A LONG TIME THEN IN JUNIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL
I USED TOILET PAPER ROLLS FOR THE LONG HAIR PAGE BOYS.
I put my hair up every night in pin curls. My hair was straight and no
permanent. Later, when I was working, I put my hair up in curler and
teased and sprayed it. Now, I have a permanent, wash it, blow dry and
use a curling brush. Wish I had done that when I was working; it would
have saved me hours and hours and hours. Sarah
Yep! Sure did.We all slept (or tried to) on those Bristle brush
rollers, with the picks that poked into your scalp.ouch! All so we could
impress the fellas:) If they only knew what we went through,LOL

When I was a teenager my hair was naturally curly and I was always
trying to get some of the curl out of it...finally a few years later I
had it down to mostly loose curl!! One of my daughters went through that
also!! I would sop it down with water and hope it would dry straight and
my Mom would say, "someone else would love to have your curly hair!!

I always had a mop of curly hair too. Hated it, but only put it in
curlers now and then in order to straighten it a little, Didn't do any
good, would only go back to curly again. finally wised up and decided
shorter was better than longer. So have had short hair for at least 60
years. Now it is a LOT thinner, but just wash and comb, now and then use
a blow dryer but usually end up with straight frizz. Need a cut now, for
sure. Dorie, I remember my Mom saying the same thing. Did save a lot of
money and time over the years.

HAD CURLY CURLS. I REMEMBER IN 5TH GRADE I WANTED A FEATHER CUT WITH A
PERM. I HAVE PIC TO SHOW THAT. CRIED ALL WEEKEND AND BRUSHED IT SO HARD,
HAD FRISZ AND ON MONDAY HAD SCHOOL PICS TAKEN. AWFUL!!!!! NEVER HAD
A PERM AGAIN UNTIL I MUST OF BEEN 40 SOMETHING. SAME THING, FRISZ. NEVER
AGAIN. HAVE HAD IT SHORT FOR MANY YEARS. I HAVE ONE GRAND WHO HAS WIREY
CURLY HAIR. MY GIRLS WENT THRU THE JUICE CANS AND HANGING HEAD OVER BED
TO HAVE CURLS. NEXT DAY IN SCHOOL. ONLY ONE GETS PERMS NOW. REST OF
GIRLS HAVE SLIGHT CURL TO HAIR. I AM A WASH AND GO GAL. HAHA

Mine was always fairly thick and just a hint of curl in it. Mom kept it
in a buster brown haircut with bangs, and short. Remember those days
well...haha she always claimed I didn't sit still lon enuff to curl
it..However it grew sooo fast..she was always wanting to trim it..
At an early age I decided I wanted LONG hair..and I lucked out the page
boy's were in style. Still did the fat curlers on the ends but it held
the curl well..I had hair I could sit on . Took too much time to keep
tidy..
Then came the "feather cuts" for me and home perms..Yikes..I sure took a
weight off my shoulders, Nice change tho', and I seemed to have enuff
curl of my own to just go wash and wear..
I think next step is another head of hair..a WIG..I can take my head to
the operator and leave it for her to worry about..haha.. besides you can
choose what color you want and how to style it..(smile)
The saga of Kath's Mop is in it's last stages..So be it...Guess it's
time to visit the "wig" merchants.. Do they call them WIG-WAMS... (GRIN)

Oh boy Bee, that sure brings back some painful memories. When I was in
high school, I used bobby pins to curl my hair every night and slept on
them. Then later when I went to work, I slept on those prickly brush
rollers that were held in with those hard plastic picks. I literally had
ridges in my scalp. That was in the days when back combing was the rage.
It took me such a long time to back comb all my hair then smooth the top
layer over all that tangled mess. Hair styles are so much easier to
manage now. I just blow my hair dry, arrange it, squirt a little hair
spray, and off I go.

I used to go to bed with those awful brush rollers. Hair looked great
the following morning, but my head always hurt. Anneliese
The first rollers I remember were the metal ones about 2 or 3 times
bigger around than a pencil. They had a wire thing with a rubber thing
you clipped in the end of the roller. Then came the ones with the sticky
brushes & picks or bobby pins.
My hair is stick straight & baby fine. Doesn't hold any curl unless
permed. I'd be happy if it just had some body!

I used to roll mine on socks. I do have some natural curl but when my
hair was long,I used socks. My hair stays pretty good from week to week.

I always had long hair when I was younger( about to my waist) it was
curly and I would set it every night on these pink curlers ( hard
plastic) to make it more straigher (managerable) I even used "Curl Free"
on it once.(big mistake) I was in high school when everyone wanted long
straight hair. I cut it to my shoulders after my first son was born.Did
the layer blown back look. Then again around 40 let it grow almost to
waist again. My arms got tried trying to fuss with it everyday so now is
back to little below my shoulder and I just blow out the top a little
and let the rest dry curly. easy and quick ! Btw I have dark brown hair
and with the help of some "little friends" in a bottle it may stay that
way. The battle is raging.

I thought I had tried everything ,ironing ,steam curler, etc, but I
never hear of using socks. How does that work? (do it)
