Kath 2/16 12:39 p
I do and I made some lastt nite, only problem is there is too much in one of those Micro pkgs…

I tried a different brand and it was the best I have ever eaten, called POP WEAVER, (EXTRA BUTTER )..

I could eat only about 1/4 of it...Sooo, what do I do with the rest of it...????

Any good ideas ???

Mary Jane 2/16 1:22 pm

Glo 2/16 2:50 p
Whenever I have left over pop corn I take it out and spread it out on the lawn for the birds. They love it!

Glo 2/16 2:51 p
You can also sprinkle some on top of tomato soup!

Lee 2/16 6:24 p
If and when we have any leftover, I throw it out in the yard for the birds to eat and of course the racoons like it too.

Di 2/16 7:17 p
Pop Secret has a snack size bag. There are 10 bags in a box. Jim eats a lot of pop corn. I like it too

Wayne 2/16 7:23 p
I have no clue. Never had any left over popcorn. I'll bet it can be reheated.

Susan 2/16 8:17 p
Kath, I love popcorn also sometimes thats all I have for dinner. I usually eat on the same bag till it is gone i just put it in a zip lock bag .I like Orville R. or Pop Secret and always the one that has the most butter. I sometimes put shredded cheddar cheese or sprinkle parmesan cheese on it just put in bag and shake. I don't think I have had Pop Weavers will look for it next time.and give it a try ......thanks......I like the ideal of giving it to the birds if I ever have extra will do that!

Carol 2/16 9:33 p
Well, you could shove it through the webby slot and share with us. Or you could throw it outside on the grass for the birds. I love popcorn too Kath. The problem is that I CAN eat an entire bag by myself. Haha. Hey, I have seen small individual bags of microwave popcorn. See if you can find them at your store.

I like popcorn, but it gives me heartburn. Haven't exactly figured out "Why"? I would like to try that Pop Weaver, but I don't remember ever seeing it. One thing I insist on, is that it does not contain artificial flavoring.

Hey Peg;
Do you remember the story about the foot and a half popcorn ball that I made Sandy G for her birthday? That day the principal yelled at me that he wanted to see me in his office after school. It was a Friday, next to the last hour. I finished my classes and shut the library down. Went the office and there sat Olive, my supervisor. I thought, oh, oh deep doodoo. No-one could be that mad about a popcorn ball. Then I began to go " what have I done lately">????? Well that is when they offered me a job over all of the schools teaching library skills and storytelling. I was DUMB FOUNDED. I sat there speechless for about 3 minutes and then started rubbing my hands together and said, "Think how many minds I could warp." Olive said JOAN!!!! I said, "It's Friday, payday and Mr. M. can holler louder than anybody I know. He said the reason was he knew I would be leaving his building. Anyway I ended up taking the job and met one of my best buddies. Kathleen to you Peg to me. She is a wonderful friend. Who had many stories too.

BMW BMWPC (before microwaves and microwave popcorn Haven't done this for a long time. But I always had company and 6 people in my family and when I would make popcorn, there would never be any left for me. So I started filling my longhandled pan half full of corn and added quite a bit of Wesson Oil. As the corn popped I would pour it off. My husband said I could pop a bushel of corn out of that little pan. One evening he told that story at a hammer-in and the guys all went no way. We had an open campfire so I came down to the house and got my trusty pan and a big stainless mixing bowl that I made (8 loaves of bread) in and popped and filled the bowl with corn from that little pan. They scarfed it up. Another wonderful memory.

it is not raining, just hop in you car and take the 2 hr trip here. You furnish the popcorn and I will supply the cheese cake I got for Valentines Day.

Kath 2/17 10:29 a
Yes, I do remember that story JR, and it was one of the "BIG" tunning points in my life. as well as all the "fertile" littlle minds that it came in contact with, Haha..

We sure did have some interesting LIBRARY SESSIONS, for a few years.. Interestingly enough, the selections of the reading materials, for the primary grades began to change,.in our system anyway.

Reading was more "fun" for the kids, and they began to "Move On",, from the comic books and funnies, to the hard copy versions, and SUDDENLY they were anxious to read more in depth, and enjoy the learning…

You did very well JR. in your promoting, I thank you and many of those "little ones" who are parents and adults now, are still reaping the benefits.. Me too..(grin).

As you all know, I live in a mobile park, that contains 5 small ponds ( we like to call them lakes ). They are well maintained and the current residents ( water fowl ) that came for a visit and STAYED. have been multiplying . Ducks and geese at every turn... At times very messy..

Mgr. sent a notice 'DO NOT FEED THE DUCKS’...He wanted to contain them in the ponds without barriers, They get the "munchies" too and will wander at times and "squack" at your doorstep...Ugh…

You know what's comin' RIGHT ???

I fed the birds, that were dainty and ate their share, until chased away by those SCAVENGER..DUCKS..that greedily gulped up every cornel of corn, and SQUACKED for more. Waddled back to their safe haven leaving me DEEP IN DOO - DOO..in my yard and driveway..

. $ 25.00 LATER..for cleaning driveway.and many MENACING COMMENTS AND LOOKS FROM THE MANAGER....I have learned a serious lesson... NO MORE POPCORN FOR THE CREATURES....

ShirlyJean 2/17 11:39 a
I throw mine out for the birds in the empty lot beside us.

ShirlyJean 2/17 11:47 a
I live in a mobile home court too & guess what--we used to have ducks & geese.
They didn’t roam the court tho--they were wild ones settled in on the sump at back of court where runoff water went. A few residents near there fed them for several years & they raised little ones out there. It was kind of fun to go look at them but gradually they all disappeared.

Glo 2/17 1:41 p
Sorry about that! I didn't know you would get in deep doo doo for helping the birds. Next time, if there is ever a next time, take the pop corn down to the lake and feed the ducks. Or just throw it out. Pop corn is cheap enough to just toss any left-overs! At least it's cheaper than a $25 fine!

Carol 2/17 2:18 p
What a delightful story. I sure did enjoy reading it. Would love to have seen that huge popcorn ball.

Carol 2/17 2:20 p
Popcorn popped on the stove in oil in a pan is the very best. Did you used to shake your pan over the heat as it popped? Oh what a flood of memories your post brought to my mind. We used to melt butter to pour over it too. I can taste it now.

Carol 2/17 2:23 p
Ut oh!!! Didn't think about other fowl horning in.

Anneliese 2/17 2:51 p
Hi Kath,
Afraid I can't help you there. I give all left over popcorn or for that matter baked goods to the grand kids next door.

PepsiPopr 2/17 2:52 p
YEP -- put the excess out in the yard for the birds to eat; thats what I do.

If you have a Piggly Wiggly store, try the Merritt-Pop brand of popcorn; it's mitey good (it's grown and packaged in Pulaski, Tennessee)

PepsiPopr 2/17 6:46 p
I like it this way: semi-melt a hershey bar or some Silver Bell Kisses; get the chocolate sorta soft. Pop the corn, and just as soon as it comes out, put the chocolate in and mix it into the bag of corn, pout in hot melted butter and salt to taste. Sorta messy to eat, but OH --SO GOODDDD !!

Wayne 2/17 7:17 p
I can just imagine your eyes while you were making the popcorn ball. Peg seems a fitting name for Kathleen. You two must have been "hellsa popping" sometime back. Notice I didn't put a definite time there. I figure both yall are still ready for a right good prank or two.

Di 2/16 7:17 p
Pop Secret has a snack size bag. There are 10 bags in a box. Jim eats a lot of pop corn. I like it too

Darlene 2/18 7:43 a
I love popcorn! But haven't popped any for a while. Dale used to talk about when he was a kid they put milk on it & ate it like cereal. I don't think I would like that. Too soggy!

Darlene 2/18 7:49 a
Yes that is the way I always popped mine, then came the air popper. I didn't care much for that. I like mine slathered in butter & salt. Not very good for us but oh so good! Now I do the microwave thing, but get the kind with the most butter. :-)

Eileen 2/18 7:59 a
I don't know why but it always tasted better at the movies?

Joan 2/18 10:16 a
I had a friend in the army in Germany and I would send him cookies. I would line the box with the Sunday funnies and used stale popcorn for packing(BS) before styrofoam. He said they even ate the corn LOL.

Susan 2/18 12:55 p
I had such a "great " time reading this thread. . It is amazing how one little thing like "Popcorn" can bring out such wounderful stories Joan, I didn't know about your work as a storyteller.I don't know if I just missed it or that I am still kinda new to group. I wish I could have been there to listen to them. Kath, I am sorry that tou got in "doodoo" with your manager but that in its self is a great story. Thankyou All for telling the different ways you make and toppings you use on your popcorn (Joe, gotta try that chocoalate way) I have soooo much enjoyed being a part of this group. You never know from day to day what you may encounter, learn laugh,or cry about as you come in here an "click" on a post.8^)

Mimi 2/18 2:03 p
I tried saving the leftovers but it tasted "old" the next day..The manufacturers shold make packages that yeld smaller amounts for small familys..

Wayne 2/18 9:34 p
