School's Starting

My goodness, where did the summer go?? The yellow school buses are making their first appearances on the roads here. Our 6 year old grandson David is starting first grade this year. He is so excited about going all day and eating his lunch there. He's a big Nascar fan. He got a Jeff Gordon lunch box. The day before school started he put his back pack on and had his lunch box in his hand. He wanted to show everyone how he would look on his first day at school. Haha. He and his mom went to the grocery store to buy special things for his lunch. His mom said that he was up and dressed for school at 6:30... 2 hours before the school bus arrived. LOL.

I will never forget the first our Son started to kindergarten, he came home and told me he didn't learn a think..he said all he wanted to learn was how to spell great big long words and they didn't teach him!!

Gee, your school starts early. Many schools here do not start until after Labor Day. That is an old time tradition because of the Canfield Fair which ends on Labor Day. And most kids would skip school to go to the fair. I know, when I was a kid, I went to the fair everyday. Now, I don't care if I go at all. David sounds so cute. How is he enjoying school, now?

That was so cute how David put on his school things & all for you all to see.:-) Kayla & Kelsey did the same thing. They model their school outfits and their new backpacks each year. This is Kelsey's first grade too. She wasn't too sure she wanted to go this year or not, but now she loves it and says her teacher is the greatest, but so was her Kindergarden teacher.Lol I get so excited for the girls with their new clothes and smiles on their face's. Oh what joy kids can have!?!

PS I watched a show on the food network last night about lunchboxes and it was great. David chose a special lunchbox. Jeff Gordon is someone I like too. I'd like to eat lunch with him, hahaa J/k.....

Did you get any pictures of him. It is so cute when they first start school. Jacob started yesterday also he is in the 11th grade this year. last one in high school.,Joshua should finish college by the first of the year....going to be a little different going to school and a new a baby, but he was born while his dad was still in college....we did it so I know they can.

Schools started here today too. Haven't heard from Brandon as to how his first day went. He sure hated to go back. The summer vacations are not as long as they were when I went to school. We got out the third week of May and went back the first Tuesday after Labor Day in September. It was always nice when the first day of Sept. started on a Tuesday....another week of summer vacation. We never got spring break like the kids do now.

It is so cute to hear about David and all his new adventures into the world, boy does that bring back alot of memories of when my boys were little. You are so right.....life is so great in the first grade!
Susan

Our little Emmy started kindergarten last week. She's another one who loves school. She was really upset because school was shut down for the summer.I hope she continues to feel that way.She thinks her teachers walk on water.
Sammy

My goodness, aren't our little ones growing up quickly?!! Doesn't seem possible that Emmy is starting kindergarten. I'm so glad that she loves it. Does she ride a school bus? David was totally infatuated with school buses last year. When we would ride our bikes together, he wanted us to pretend to be school buses. We had a "bus route" and stopped to pick up and deliver kids as we rode along. Haha. He had the sound of the brakes and the door opening down pat. I never quite mastered that. LOL.
Carol

Great to see a child so excited about school. Hope he keeps feeling that way. Some are not so anxious to go back. But I know a lot of stressed out Moms kind of happy to see tha yellow bus again ! LOL
Shirley Jean

How cute! She should remember that day. When he gets in high school--it is a different matter.I had to go up and down those steps a thousand times to get my boys up.

Grandson David absolutely loves first grade. When his mother asked what he liked about it, he said that you get to sit at a desk all day. LOL. Now, that may not sound like fun to most kids, but apparently David likes it. He went to a Cub Scout meeting last week. He says that he loves scouting too. He's also been practicing to play on a soccer team. He says that he also loves soccer. Life is good when you're in the first grade!!
Carol

Oh yes, the school bus, once last year Holly had to pick her up from school to take her for a dentist appt. She was mad as a wet hornet because she didn't get to ride the bus home. We were all informed that if we needed her for anything, we would just have to wait until the bus brought her home.
