Most Unusual Gift?Carol What's the most unusual gift that you've ever given to someone? You won't believe what our 4 year old grandson Matthew wants for Christmas. He wants a carpet cleaner that "really works with water" (his words)!! He has always been fascinated with sweepers. He's had 2 toy sweepers that he's worn out with using them so much. He begs to run my real sweeper when he comes here. I tried to tell him that they don't make toy carpet cleaners. He said, "That's okay. Santa Claus will be able to make me one." That and an umbrella are the only 2 things on his wish list. Well, his parents have already bought Santa gifts, and no carpet cleaner of course. Dave and I just couldn't bear for him not to get what he really wants. So we found a very small, light-weight REAL carpet cleaner. We asked our daughter if it was okay for him to have it. She said, "Sure. Maybe he'll actually clean some of our dirty carpet." Haha. So the plan is to put just a little bit of water in it and let him go to it. So, strange as it may seem, our 4 year old grandson is getting a REAL carpet cleaner for Christmas. Vel CAROL I REMEMBER THE YEAR OUR GRANDDAUGHTER LESLIE WANTED NOTHING BUT HOTDOGS. 4 YEARS OLD AND CLIMBED ONTO SANTAS KNEE AND TOLD HIM SHE WANTED 'JUST HOTDOGS'. WE MOM AND DAD AND US WERE SO EMBRASSED. BUT GUESS WHAT SHE GOT - A PKG OF HOTDOGS IN HER PRESENTS. Shirley Jean Hey there I want to borrow your Grandson LOL My shoulder complains about vacuming & carpet cleaning. Sammy Two Years ago, all Alyssa wanted was paper plates, old magazines, glue and scizzors. They were doing crafts in school and she wanted all the stuff to do the same things at home. That's all she would ask for. I bought one of the small plastic tubs and filled it with all sorts of things she could use. colored markers and gel pens tht she had not asked for but really enjoyed. I had some old Ideal Magazines, I'm sure you know the ones I mean, All sors of beautiful pictures. A friend gave me 3 "Birds and Blooms" magazines. I put those in too. She was more thrilled with that tub of "stuff" than some of the expensive toys she got. glo… My son James wants socks and boxers! He said if he got 100 pair of socks an a couple dozen pair of boxers he would be happy! Dorie The one that comes to mind is, when Jamie was 6 years old, all he wanted for Christmas was a set of Encyclopedias...he is the one in Medical school in Chicago so, Carol you may have an inventor on your hands who will come up with a carpet sweeper that works by push a button and it will clean automatically!!! Wouldn't that be something!! Indiana Joan My grandson got a dustbuster for Xmas and he loved it. He wore one out and I think his mom bought him another. He is probably sweeping clouds in heaven now. He is the boy that was killed in an auto accident. Lee Brandon wants Duck tape. Shirley LOL THAT IS SO FUNNY CAROL.I'D LOVE TO SEE A PICTURE OF HIM USING IT.I WONDER IF HE'LL REMAIN THAT INTERESTED?MY OLDEST SON "DAVE" TOO HAS ALWAYS BEEN INTERESTED IN ANYTHING MECHANICAL AND STILL IS EVEN THOUGH HE OPERATES HEAVY EQUIPEMENT.HE WASN'T MUCH OLDER THAN YOUR GRANDSON WHEN MY DAD STARTED BUYING HIM REAL MODEL CARS AND PLANES YOU PUT TOGETHER YOURSELF SOME OF THEM EVEN HAD MOTORS.HE WAS HAPPY SPENDING HOURS MAKING THEM. Carol Lee LOL @ Brandon wanting duct tape. Is he a teenager? Our granddaughter was 16 last Christmas. She asked for duct tape. She actually made a purse from duct tape and thought that it was sooooooo cool. She has a pattern to make a prom dress from duct tape. Can you imagine??? Di Carol. We want a full report after Christmas, that is so funny haha Di Lee I am ROTFLMBO at the duct tape Di Glo I always knew James and I were related haha SOCKS hahahaha Sammy I saw on TV last year where teens were making stuff with Duct tape. One young couple had made both the prom dress and the Tux from Duct tape. It didn't look all that great to me ,but hey! Whatever trips your trigger!!! Darlene Carol Send him to me! I already have a small light weight carpet cleaner! He can clean to his hearts content!! Lee Di Brandon is now 14 Carol Such a neat idea Sammy!! All of our little ones love working on craft projects. You just gave me an idea. Thanks Carol Well, our little 4 year old carpet cleaner grandson is at it again. Some of you may remember that Matthew is the grandson that was very sick when he was born. He is quite a character. He keeps us in stitches. I just got an email from his mom relating this story: "Matt sauntered up to the Christmas tree earlier. He had a toy gun in his hand and didn't think anyone was watching him because I was helping David with his homework. Anyway, he pointed the gun (sassy in his way, you know) and said "Are you talkin' to me....Christmas Tree?!" Then he put his gun back down to his side (sassy again) and said "I didn't think so!"
This story may lose something since all of you haven't seen his "sassy"
little body language and his deep husky voice for such a little guy. I
can just picture this scene, and I'm LOL.
Wayne Case, our older daughter's son, emailed me that he wants one of those big rolls of hay. He is about 3 or 4 I think so I suspect his sisters helped him. The idea was so strange that I called Leigh to get the whole story.
He desperately wants a horse but has been told he cannot have one. So
Leigh thinks he is planning to grow one. He has asked her several times
if it is true that "we are what we eat". He heard that in their church.
I figure he is thinking "horses eat hay so they must be part hay so if I
plant some a horse will grow". He is going to be something unbelievable
when teenhood hits.
Lee I love the way a child's reasoning works. Can't you just hear the gears grinding in their little minds. They are so innocent. Carol Oh my gosh Wayne, how funny. Case is about the same age as our Matthew who wants to carpet cleaner. We'd better hope that those 2 never find a way to be together. Who knows what ideas they might come up with. Haha. Shirley LOL AT A DRESS OUT OF DUCT TAPE. 2 OF MY GRAND DAUGHTERS.IN THERE EARLY 20'S ARE INTO THAT GOTH LOOK.ALL OF THAT BLACK.THEY MEANT ANOTHER GIRL WHO WAS INTO ALL OF THAT. Barbara It may seem strange to you but I bet he (Matthew) will love it. If your daughter gets tired of the noise---send him to me.I would love to have him vacum for me. Barbara Wayne You gotta love it! Too cute for words. |
