I went to SWTSC for 2 years and earned exactly 4 hours credit. The Mexican border with all of its "attractions" was only 4 hours away in my 57 Chevy "Moonglow". I hustled hotdogs to pay for meals. There was a hotdog stand at the bottom of the hill in downtown San Marcos. They sold hotdogs for $0.25 each. I would take orders at $0.50 each or 3 for a dollar. Then pushed my car out of the parking lot, coasted downhill. I only started the car to go back up the hill. Gasoline was $0.39 per gallon. Some nights I made $10.00 and had the car absolutely packed with hot dogs.
I was terribly lonely in the midst of the 10,000 students. I missed the love of my life so terribly. I wrote her almost every day. Some of the letters make me blush now.
