Components of sample gas drying system added to Sample Conditioning Unit

These parts are all inside the CEM cabinet.

Chilled "dry" gas from sample conditioner goes in Hidden side of this unit and exits this side fitting to go to Perma-Pure dryer shown below.

The gas from the acid aerosol catcher goes into bottom of dryer inside a Nafion membrane that is countercurrently swept with dry nitrogen. This nitrogen purge is the reason the cabinet doors must be open when working in the cabinet. The dried gas exits the Perma-Pure at the top and goes to the final added piece.

Perma Pure Dryer

The mist catcher is a Horiba stock item but we repack with Perlite in the lab. The packing is usually a very light tan. This darkens with exposure to SO2 and moisture. Perlite is purchased from Aldrich in cardboard drums.
