The testing is done to prove that the required Automatic Waste Fuel Cutoffs (AWFC) are active and effective. The AWFC supported by the CEM are: 1. CO exceeds 500 ppmv for 1 minute; 2. CO averaged over the previous 60 minutes does not exceed 100 ppmv for 1 minute
1. One minute cutoff CO >500 ppm
Go to the Servomex analyzer and locate the cylinder used as the span gas 2 (~2000 ppm) for the system. Loosen the 1/4 inch stainless steel tubing and remove regulator from this cylinder and attach the regulator to a cylinder with a known Carbon Monoxide concentration slightly higher than 500 ppm CO. Be sure to tighten fittings after the move.
I & E will be testing all the AWFC. When I & E is ready, flip the three toggle switchs (bottom three) on the front panel of the sample conditioning system to the right. Note CO reading on the CEM display for info only. Also note the pressure on the cylinder. Must be replaced when pressure is less than 200 psig. As soon as the AWFC is activated turn off the cylinder valve and flip the switchs to their starting configuration (all to the left). You are now ready for part two.
2. Sixty minute rolling average CO >100 ppm
Disconnect the regulator from the >500 ppm cylinder. Connect the regulator and sample line to a gas cylinder with a known CO content less than 500. There should be one with approximately 400 ppm CO available (EPA Protocol gas). Open the cylinder valve. When I & E is ready, flip the three toggle switchs (bottom three) on the front panel of the sample conditioning system to the right. This portion of the testing may require 20 minutes. Note CO reading on the CEM display for info only. Also note the pressure on the cylinder. Must be replaced when pressure is less than 200 psig. As soon as the AWFC is activated turn off the cylinder valve and flip the switchs to their starting configuration (all to the left). Return the regulator and cal gas line to the pretest configuration.
Make a note of the AWFC in the analyzer recalibration and service log book.
