This is the kind of nurses' story that I like.
Most of us get senile and our minds wonder, we get lost in the parking lot and ever so forgetful. One day in SICU my patient was a 104 year young lady. This woman was a sharp as a tack. You did not see any senility in her. Her mind was clear and she could tell you stories that happened from five minutes ago or what happend a 50 plus yrs ago.

We all loved her to pieces and she was such a joy to talk to. She told of coming to Arkansas by wagon train from the eastern coast. She talked of all the presidents that ran for office. She told of the hardships of growing up on a farm and little money to go around.

She was a jokester too. She said she got into trouble in church one time. She said that the preacher caught her passing a note to a gentleman during church service. I asked when did this happen, she said "Oh that was in my younger days. I was 72". I asked her what the note said. She said " I asked him if he would like to go out with me and to have lunch after church." She said that she got the date.

This lady out lived her two husband and all of her children and some of her grandchildren. I hope I am that alert when I reach 70.
